We all know how tough mornings can be. Luckily, we also live in Chicago, a city known for having some of the best coffee shops around. No matter where you live, or what direction you’re headed for work here are some coffee shops you must try in the Windy City.

River North: Firecakes

Just down the street from ParadigmNEXT, Firecakes is primarily a donut shop that serves coffee beverages. Our team loves Firecakes because there are so many options. From the peanut butter cup donut, to the classic old-fashioned, and a handful of lattes, cappuccinos, and coffees to choose from everyone can find something they like at Firecakes.

West Loop: Sawada Coffee

Known for their beautiful coffee art and military latte, which is a blend between matcha and espresso, Sawada Coffee is the perfect way to start your day. Sawada also stocks donuts from Doughnut Vault. Take your coffee and donut to go or take a seat facing the street and take a breather before heading into the office.

South Loop: Goddess and The Baker

Nestled right under the brown line and located in the middle of the loop, Goddess and The Baker serves everything from coffee and pastries to sandwiches and beer. While we wouldn’t recommend you start your work day with a beer, we would recommend the Vietnamese cold brew coffee or Wildflower Honey Latte with a breakfast sandwich for company.

Wicker Park: The Wormhole Coffee

Nostalgic? Step into The Wormhole and take a trip back to the 80’s. The coffee shop is decorated with vintage lunch boxes, action figures, the first Apple computer, and a DeLorean time machine from Back to The Future. This cozy Wicker Park shop also happens to serve one of the best vanilla lattes in the city.

Lincoln Park: Bourgeois Pig Cafe

Located in the heart of Lincoln Park, Bourgeois Pig Cafe is a great spot to grab a meal or a coffee to go. Their sandwiches are named after famous novels and they have specialty teas and coffees. You’re sure to find a seat in this two floor vintage house turned coffee shop. In the warmer months, they open up their front patio for seating too!

Lakeview: Wired Coffee House

Wired Coffee House has a warm and comfortable interior that immediately invites you in. Owned and operated by a family, Wired is unique because it has international coffees and teas from all over the world. Looking for something to eat too? Wired serves delicious breakfast sandwiches and french toast prepared in a matter of minutes. You can’t really go wrong with this coffee house.

Uptown: Emerald City Coffee

Attached to the Sheridan red line, this coffee shop is the perfect place to stop in before hopping on the train. With walls covered in art, and eclectic furniture for seating, Emerald City has a unique and memorable space. Their original interior perfectly matches their one of a kind drinks that never disappoint.

Whether you’re looking for a sit down coffee shop, or somewhere you can grab and go, these coffee shops are some of the best across the city. Try them out and tell us what you think!
